NANNM HAS A NEW PRESIDENT.
Following the demise of
the former President Comrade Linus A. Sabulu through the 22nd
October, 2005 ill-fated Bellview Crash, the National executive Council (NEC)
of NANNM organized a bye-Election in line with the provision of the
constitution during its first meeting of the year on the 27th of
April, 2006. At this Election, which was contested for by two candidates,
Alhaji Lawal H. Dutsinma, the then 1st Vice President and Mr.
Patrick Mamgim, the Plateau State Chairman, the winner emerged in the person
of Alhaji Lawal Hussaini Dutsinma, as the National President of NANNM.
The newly installed
President in his inaugural speech thanked the Almighty God who kept
everybody safe through the day and the exercise. He equally thanked members
of NAC/NEC and the entire Nurses/Midwives of Nigeria for reposing confidence
in him. He solicited the support of comrade Mamgim and the entire
Association in the arduous task of the improving the Nursing profession in
Nigeria. He reminded NEC-in-session that there is no winner or loser in the
election and pledged to work in a democratic atmosphere, upholding the set
objectives of the Organization and some hefty objectives of the late
President. He promised to serve the organization with his whole might and
take it to greater heights.
He rounded off by
appreciating the presence of the Registrar of trade unions, the
representative of the Secretary General of the Nigeria Labour Congress, the
gentle-men of the Press and NEC-in-session. |
