TERMS OF REFERENCE
The main tasks of the Technical Committee are;-
i. To
comprehensively redefine, classify and evaluate the functions and
responsibilities of the Nursing Profession.
ii. To
determine appropriate minimum both academic and professional, for the
practice of General Nursing and Specialist Nursing.
iii. To
determine and prescribe suitable mode/model of conducting nursing education,
whether hospital based or university based.
iv. To
prescribe suitable syllabus and curricula for both General Nursing and
Specialist Nursing by reviewing and updating existing ones.
A comparative analysis of the curricular of
hospital based and University based nursing education should be conducted to
evaluate the quality of knowledge being imparted in the two institutions.
v. Assess
the capacity of existing institutions (University/schools of Nursing) to
impact high quality nursing education (i.e. staff and facilities).
vi. To
propose model to be adopted to bridge the gap in knowledge and skill of
practicing nurses across the nation.
vii. To
prepare a draft bill to reflect the proposed changes.
The newly installed President in his inaugural
speech thanked the Almighty God who kept everybody safe through the day and
the exercise. He equally thanked members of NAC/NEC and the entire Nurses
/Midwives of Nigeria for reposing confidence in him. He solicited the
support of comrade Mamgim and the entire Association in the arduous task of
improving the Nursing profession in Nigeria. He reminded NEC- in session
that there is no winner or loser in the election and pledged to work in a
democratic atmosphere, upholding the set objectives of the Organization and
some lofty objectives of the late President. He promised to serve the
organization with his whole might and take it to greater heights.
He rounded off by appreciating the presence of
the Registrar of trade unions, the representative of the Secretary General
of the Nigeria Labour Congress, the gentle-men of the Press and NEC in
session. |
