PROJECT:                FIXED OBLIGATION GRANT AWARD

This project is collaboration between ENHANSE-USAID and NANNM with the goal of building the capacity of members of NANNM to become more actively involved in the National HIV/Aids response, not only as service providers but as programme planners, managers, leaders and advocates for policy change and enhanced enabling environment.

The objectives of the project is to increase the number of heads of Nursing departments (primary, secondary, and tertiary) who  receives training on HIV/Aids advocacy; project design, leadership and management, implementation, monitoring and  evaluation, and resource mobilization.

It will also develop and implement a new Nursing code of ethics for avoidance of stigma and discrimination  for health care institutions and  schools of Nursing in Nigeria by 2006.

The project intends to carry out the following activities:-

·        Facilitate a leadership, management, M & E skill building workshops for Directors, Heads of nursing and NANNM officials.

·        Conduct  a desk review on ethical issues and stigma and discrimination against PLWHAS  among the Nursing workforce in  Nigeria.

·        Facilitates a meeting of stakeholders in Nursing to discuss stigma and discrimination and develop a framework for it’s prevention.

·        Review current nursing ethical code to incorporate sections on the prevention of stigma and discrimination.

·        Organises a consensus stakeholders meeting for the adoption of the new national code.

·        Printing and dissemination of the new nursing code of ethics

Enhanse is to give the sum of Two million, six hundred, ninety eight thousand, three hundred and fifty naira only while NANNM will add its own counter funding to pilot the project to its conclusion.
